Eggleston to serve as new USD 475 superintendent

Dr. Reginald Eggleston will serve as the new superintendent of Unified School District 475.

USD 475 board members approved Eggleston’s contract during a special meeting Monday night. Board Vice President Dr. Anwar Khoury said he appreciated the work Ray and Associates did to help the district in its superintendent search.

“I think the process went really well,” Khoury said.

Eggleston was one of three candidates USD 475 officials picked as finalists for the position. Those candidates recently held meet-and-greet sessions in the community, and Eggleston met with the public on Dec. 4. He will be paid $185,000 per year, and his initial contract will run from April 15, 2019 to June 30, 2019. He will then be awarded a two-year contract that will run through June 30, 2021.

Eggleston has more than 24 years of experience in public education, and currently serves as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. Time spent in the classroom as a special education teacher serves as the foundation for his core beliefs and success as an educator. He currently serves as the commander of the 4/413th Senior Reserve Officer Training Corps Battalion at Fort Knox, Ky. Eggleston has served as a high school principal, a director of special education and student services, an assistant superintendent, a chief administrative officer/superintendent and a director of pre-intervention strategies.

Eggleston earned a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism at Troy State University, a master’s degree in Special Education at The University of Alabama in Birmingham, Ala., an educational specialist degree in Administration at Auburn University in Montgomery, Ala., and a doctorate of education at Nova Southeastern University. He and his wife, Regina, reside in Mobile, Ala.
