Victory Fest, Fort Riley's 100th anniversary celebration of the Big Red One, began Saturday at Marshall Army Field.
Families and visitors were welcomed with family activities, army vehicle displays, a car show and music from local bands.
Visitors could climb into military helicopters, have their face painted, practice rock climbing on a climbing wall, and watch demonstrations by mounted Union Army reenactors.
The Charlie Daniels Band is scheduled to perform on the main stage Saturday at 6 p.m. All American Rejects are also scheduled for the main-stage at 7:30. And fireworks will take place at 10 p.m.
