Scooter’s, a Nebraska-based coffee chain, is coming to Junction City.
Drivers along Sixth Street may have noticed it already — remodeling and a new sign up at the former location of Wing It, 439 W. Sixth St.
Franchisee Justin Gulbrandson hopes to have a soft opening by Dec. 23. The grand opening, he said, will take place after the first of the year.
He and a few other business partners decided to open the new coffee shop because they felt it would be a good fit for the community. One of these partners, Tony Manzitto, has run a Scooter’s in Nebraska for about 10 years.
This is not the first time a coffee shop has been located at this site and Gulbrandson believes community members will be happy to be able to buy their morning coffee from the kiosk again.
“We were aware that Junction City had a coffee establishment at the location that we’re going to operate and that the local community kind of misses having there,” he said. “So we thought it would be the perfect opportunity.”
He is a fan of the brand itself, being from Nebraska — Scooter’s place of origin — originally.
“Being a Kansas resident now, we just — we really wanted to bring that brand to the area,” Gulbrandson said.
The Scooter’s menu is wide-ranging — similar to national chains such as Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks — in that it contains a variety of drinks, pastries, and breakfast foods.
The Junction City location will offer the full Scooter’s menu when it opens.
