U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) delivered remarks in honor of Junction City’s Ed Rolfs Tuesday on the Senate floor. Moran attended funeral services for Rolfs on Monday.

Rolfs — who died Aug. 16 --— was the president of Junction City’s Central National Bank for many years, and was involved with many community organizations.

“I’ve known Ed for many years and I, as well as those who honored him at his funeral services yesterday, describe him as a humble man, despite his many successes,” Moran said.

Rolfs was a lifelong student who always remained busy, stuck to his roots as a farmer and found great success as a banker, Moran said.

“His impact on the bank was more than just the bottom line,” Moran said. “He focused on his employees and their success.”

Rolfs was a dedicated member of the Junction City community, Moran said.

“Junction City is a community that is surrounded by Fort Riley,” Moran said. “It’s a community that understands the importance of civic engagement; understands the importance of caring for those who serve our nation, and whose families often remain behind when that service occurs.”
