Elizabeth (Beth) Howell, nee Roper, was born on July 19, 1963, in Berea, Ohio, to Robert and Evelyn (Rogers) Roper. Beth passed away on Aug. 23, 2019, after a valiant battle with cancer. Beth is survived by her mother, Evelyn Roper, of JC, two brothers, Robert Roper and his wife of Missouri, and Jimmie Roper and his wife, of Florida, as well as her very special friend, Debbie (Ellis) Bell, who walked beside Beth every step of the way during her illness until she left to be with the Lord. Beth was preceded in death by her father and her daughter.

Beth married Guy Anderson Howell on Dec. 12, 1981, and one child was born to their marriage, Tonya Lynn Howell.

Beth graduated from JCHS in May of 1981. She later attended Manhattan Area Vo-Tech where she completed classes to obtain certification in office administration, and later worked for the JC Dept of SRS for several years as an administrative assistant before moving to Alabama with her family. Beth later returned to Kansas, and worked in managerial positions at convenience stores until she left employment to take care of her mother.

Beth enjoyed reading, playing cards, bingo and dominoes with the new friends she made at Valley View Senior Life. Prior to that, she enjoyed bowling, spending time with her friends and family, volunteering, and taking care of her mother. Beth was a friend to all, and if you needed someone to talk to, she would listen and not pass judgment.

Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Junction City, Kansas, on Aug. 31, 2019, at 1 p.m. Please come join her friends and family as we celebrate Beth’s life.
