Royce C. Rasmussen

Royce C. Rasmussen, age 66 of Clay Center, passed away Oct. 3 at his residence in Clay Center.

He was born Sept. 25, 1953 in Garden City, to parents William and Lucille (Sands) Rasmussen.

Royce grew up in Junction City and graduated from Junction City High School. He worked as a jailer for the Geary County Sheriff’s Department, was the Assistant Chief of Police for Grandview Plaza, a Geary County Deputy Sheriff and an officer for the Junction City Police Department, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. Royce married Mary Goodman on Dec. 18, 1987. After retiring, they moved to Clay Center and Royce worked in the maintenance department at CCMC and he also worked for St. Francis Ministries transporting foster children to their appointments. He was an avid duck hunter and loved his dogs and his corvettes. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Rasmussen.

Survivors include Mary Rasmussen, Clay Center, daughter Danielle (Jay) Cucchiara, Gainesville, FL, daughter: Gabrielle (David) Sprague, Westminster, CO; and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Zackery.

Memorial Services will be announced at a later date.

Memorials may be donated to the Royce Rasmussen memorial fund, which will be designated by the family c/o the funeral home.
