e received a letter from Betty Hagemeister asking about the printing quality of the paper.  Betty has noticed some smudges and black spots that make some stories hard to read.

We too have noticed those same printing problems and we do apologize.

We take great care and work hard to put together each day’s paper for our readers and it is disappointing when the printing is not right and makes the stories hard to read.

We have contacted our printer who does the printing of the paper and they say the problem is with the blankets on their press.  The printer has ordered new blankets and they will be installed as soon as they come in.  They say this will resolve the problem and there will not be any more smudges and black spots.

We will be looking for the improvement and we thank readers for being patient as this gets resolved.
