To the editor:

The American Red Cross held a community blood drive Nov. 16 and Nov. 17. We received 102 units of blood, and we appreciate all our donors and volunteers who took the time to come in and contribute.

Several donors reached milestone donations, including an 8-gallon; a 10-gallon; two 11-gallon; one 12-gallon and a 15-gallon donor. Fifteen gallons means the donor has come in 120 times and gave one unit or pint of blood each time.

Whole blood donors can only donate every 56 days.

Again, I want to thank all our volunteers who worked canteen, registration, recognition and did escort; the JC Municipal Building for allowing us to use their space; and a local meat packer who donated sausages for donor’s lunch. Our next blood drive will be January 12 and 13, 2017.
