TOPEKA - Behind four hits from Cole Emerson, the Topeka Golden Giants knocked off the Junction City Brigade (0-1), 13-3 in the Mid-Plains League opener for both teams.

Emerson had four hits and 5 RBI. Cole Hoover added two RBI for the Golden Giants. Topeka scored four runs in the third inning and added five in the 7th as the game was called because of a run-rule.

Junction City was led by Tim Bell and Carson Sader's two hits each. Parker Dunn added two RBI and a walk. Overall, the Brigade managed seven hits, and scored a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Jordan Alexander pitched three innings and struck out three. Hunter Little pitched two innings and struck out one.

Junction City is back in action again Friday, when they travel to Topeka.
