Brigade rain

Members of the Junction City Brigade carry a tarp onto the field Monday evening. The Brigade's game against Baldwin City was rained out.

Lightning in the area Monday caused the Junction City Brigade game against Baldwin City to be rained out, with a makeup doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday.

A lightning strike within 10 miles of Junction City delayed the 7:05 p.m. first pitch. Shortly after 7:30 p.m., Brigade and Blues officials met to discuss plans.

The two teams will play a doubleheader Tuesday in Baldwin City. Head coach Derek Francis said the tentative start time is 6 p.m., though that may be moved up. It wasn’t immediately known how many innings would be played each game.

As part of the agreement, Baldwin City will also travel to Junction City to play a doubleheader. Those games are slated for July 12; start times have not yet been announced.
