The Junction City Blue Jays completed their 2019 regular season at Washburn Rural Friday afternoon, and lost both games.
JC pitcher Thane McDaniel took the mound in game one of the doubleheader. The Junior Blues struck early, and put up three quick runs to take a 3-0 lead after the first inning. The score remained the same until Washburn Rural added one more in the fourth to take a 4-0 advantage. Three more runs in the sixth inning helped Washburn Rural take game one 7-0.
In game two, the Junior Blues got out to another quick 3-0 lead after two innings. A triple by Jojo Nieves in the third inning scored Russell Wilkey, giving the Blue Jays their first run of the day. The Blue Jays scored a couple more runs in the fourth inning to make it a one run game. But, that’s as close as the Blue Jays were able to get.
The Blue Jays ended their regular season with a 10-8 record, and will play Liberal High School in the first round of regionals on May 15.
