Junction City High School track senior Michelle Sanchez runs in the Junction City Invitational meet March 30 at Al Simpler Stadium in Junction City.

TOPEKA — The Junction City High School track and field team traveled to Topeka to compete in a relays invitational at Seaman High School Friday.

The girls team placed first, and the boys team placed fourth, in the meet.

Senior Lyric Holman placed third in the girls 200 meter dash with a time of 26.28.

Holman placed second in the girls 400 meter dash with a time of 59.04. Sophomore Kaila Anderson placed ninth with a time of 1:04.79. Sophomore Ashley Patterson placed 15th with a time of 1:06.28. 

In the girls 800 meter run, sophomore Jada Beck placed 27th with a time of 2:40.70. Senior Kailey Koomen placed 32nd with a time of 2:45.25.

Senior Michelle Sanchez placed ninth in the girls 1600 meter run with a time of 5:43.26. Koomen placed 15th with a time of 5:53.60. Junior Stephany Lechuga placed 23rd with a time of 6:08.57. 

In the girls 3200 meter run, Lechuga placed 19th with a time of 12:56.19. 

Junior Kiena Newman placed first in the girls 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.00. 

Newman placed second in the girls 300 meter hurdles with a time of 47.16. Junior Aalyiah Davis placed 16th with a time of 53.74. 

Junction City placed third in the girls 4x100 meter relay with a time of 49.74. 

Junction City placed second on the girls 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:14.01.

Junction City placed seventh in the girls 4x800 meter relay with a time of 10:49.67. 

Senior Ayi-Lissa Dotson placed first in the girls high jump with a mark of 5'04". Patterson placed seventh with a mark of 4'10". Sophomore Nyla Blagrove placed 13th with a mark of 4'08". 

In the girls long jump, Anderson placed 14th with a mark of 15'09.50". Dotson placed 23rd with a mark of 14'07". 

Senior Hannah Reynolds placed third in the girls discus throw with a mark of 122'09". Sophomore Savannah Adams placed 14th with a mark of 100'00". Junior Sherrie Jones placed 19th with a mark of 92'01". 

In the girls javelin throw, Adams placed 26th with a mark of 91'11".

Jones placed first in the girls shot put throw with a mark of 41'09.50". Adams placed second with a mark of 37'08.25". Reynolds placed third with a mark of 36'10.75". 

Senior Izayiah Moore placed first in the boys 100 meter dash with a time of 11.00. 

Senior Ian Sanchez placed third in the boys 200 meter dash with a mark of 22.32. 

Senior Leslie Etheridge placed sixth in the boys 400 meter dash with a time of 51.64. Junior Allen Romero placed eighth with a time of 52.08. Senior Jalen Brooks placed 29th with a time of 56.97. 

Junior Juan Tovar placed eighth in the boys 800 meter run with a time of 2:04.78. Sophomore Isaiah Galicia placed 15th with a time of 2:07.51. Senior Chase Bennett placed 29th with a time of 2:12.72. 

In the boys 1600 meter run, Tovar placed 15th with a time of 4:46.79. Galicia placed 31st with a time of 5:28.28.

In the boys 3200 meter run, Galicia placed 20th with a time of 10:31.82. 

Senior Jamarcus Plato placed second in the boys 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.27. 

Plato also placed second in the boys 300 meter hurdles with a time of 39.23. Junior Javontez Brime placed ninth with a time of 43.02. 

Junction City placed first in the boys 4x100 meter relay with a time of 42.71. 

Junction City placed third in the boys 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:28.93. 

In the boys long jump, freshman David Giddens placed 10th with a mark of 20'00". 

Senior Kenson Henderson placed third in the boys discus throw with a mark of 157'06". Senior Xavier Cason placed ninth with a mark of 144'04". 

Junior Rooster Adams placed ninth in the boys javelin throw with a mark of 152'08". 

Cason placed second in the boys shot put throw with a mark of 53'05.25". 

Junction City will be back in action May 4, when it will travel to Salina to compete in an invitational meet.
