Big Red One soldiers getting respect overseas, Wasmund says during MAC luncheon

Brig. Gen. Todd Wasmund speaks at the Victory Week luncheon Wednesday at Fort Riley.

The Military Affairs Council hosted a Victory Week luncheon at Riley’s Conference Center at Fort Riley Wednesday afternoon. A buffet style lunch was provided to those in attendance.

This year’s luncheon featured a video teleconference with deployed First Infantry Division commanders, which was moderated by First Infantry Division Brig. Gen. Todd R. Wasmund.

Wasmund spoke about the significance of D-Day and the relevance it holds. Wasmund provided an update on the brigade, and said they are continuing to serve overseas with allies and partners. He said deployed units are continuing their readiness overseas. Wasmund says Big Red One soldiers in Europe get “bear hugs” when citizens recognize their patches, which gives him the goose bumps just to think about. Wasmund also had some personal news; he informed those in attendance that he will be a general for the French Division.
