The local Emergency Food and Shelter Program board awarded $34,814 to organizations that provide services in Geary County.
The funds are to be used for services in Geary County which provide support in the categories of shelter, utility assistance, rent assistance and emergency food. The local board is made up by individuals from the Geary County, Junction City, United Way, Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, Red Cross, Geary County Food Pantry, local churches and other area organizations.
In the category of served meals, Breaking Bread received $5,000, Church of the Covenant received $5,000, Live Well Geary County received $2,500 and First United Methodist Church received $2,500.
In the category of food pantries, the Geary County Food Pantry received $5,000 and First United Methodist Church received $2,500.
In the utilities category, Salvation Army received $6,000 and the Junction City Church of the Nazarene received $3,618.
In the rent services category, Junction City Church of the Nazarene received $2,000.
In the category of administrative services, United Way of Junction City/Geary County received $696.
