Rita Joann Kidd passed into eternal rest on March 22, 2019 with her two daughters, Audrey Kidd and Theresa Price, at her side. She was preceded in death by her husband James “Jim” Kidd and her son Robert H. Price.

Joann was born in 1936 in Chapman, Kansas and was a graduate of Chapman High School (DCCHS, 1954). Later in life she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism (1993) from Kansas State University. She was a co-business owner with her husband Jim Kidd of Kidd’s Bait and Tackle on Milford Lake for over 35 years. She was an avid gardener. Her crafting skills were exemplary. Joann not only sewed, quilted, knitted, and crocheted for her family, but she also won first place for knitting at the Kansas State Fair. She sold her gardening produce, delicious cookies, other baked goods, and crafts at the Junction City Farmer’s Market and local craft shows. She previously worked in the community at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library & Museum, as a tutor for elementary children in Grandma’s Program in Fort Riley Elementary Schools, and at the Geary County Senior Citizen’s Center.
